(E) THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION DO NOT APPLY
TO ANY TEACHER WHOSE TOTAL ANNUAL PENSION RE-
CEIVED FROM THE STATE TEACHERS RETIREMENT SYS-
TEM EQUALS, OR, EXCEEDS, AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE
NUMBER OF YEARS OF TEACHING SERVICE TIMES ONE-
SEVENTIETH OF THE AVERAGE FINAL COMPENSATION OF
SUCH TEACHER.
(F) THE TERM TEACHER, AS USED IN THIS SECTION,
SHALL MEAN THE SAME AS THE DEFINITION GIVEN IN
THE PUBLIC SCHOOL LAWS OF MARYLAND. ARTICLE 77,
SECTION 108 (AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 375
(Senate Bill 150)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 10 of
Article 70A, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Old Age Assistance", increasing the funeral expense allow-
ance which a county welfare department may pay on behalf of a
deceased recipient of old age assistance.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 10 of Article 70A, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Old Age Assistance", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
10. Funeral expenses.
On the death of the recipient reasonable funeral expenses, not
exceeding one hundred [dollars ($100.00)] and fifty DOLLARS
($150.00) may, subject to the rules and regulations of the State
Department, be paid by the county department if the estate of the
deceased is insufficient to pay the same and the persons legally
responsible for the support of the deceased are unable to pay the
same. The cost of any such payments shall be charged two-thirds to
State funds and one-third to local funds.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1959.
