nated as Section 527A, providing that the Board of County Com-
missioners of Allegany County shall pay an annual supplementary
pension to certain employees of the public school system of Alle-
gany County who were employed in the public school system in
Allegany County prior to July 1, 1955, and have retired after
attaining his or her sixtieth year, and having been employed ten
FIFTEEN or more years in Allegany County, or after having been
accredited with thirty years' teaching service in the public school
system of Allegany County, upon application for said pension, and
further providing that the County Commissioners shall levy the
necessary sum for the payment of the pensions and that the pen-
sions shall be payable on and after July 1, 1959, and shall be appli-
cable to teachers, 'administrators, supervisors or clerks, who retire
from the public school system of Allegany County on or after July
1, 1959*; DEFINING THE TERM "TEACHER" AS USED IN
THIS ACT AND RELATING GENERALLY TO THE PENSION
AND RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES OF TEACHERS IN AL-
LEGANY COUNTY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Allegany County (1955 Edition—being Article 1 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany
County", sub-title "Schools", sub-heading "Teachers—Pensions",
said new section to be known as Section 527A, to follow immediately
after Section 527 of said Code, and to read as follows:

527A. (a) Any teacher, administrator, supervisor or clerk, who
was employed in any of the aforesaid capacities in the Public School
System of Allegany County, prior to July 1, 1955, and has retired
from said school system after attaining his sixtieth year, and having
been employed ten
FIFTEEN or more years in the Public Schools of
Allegany County, or after having been accredited with thirty years'
teaching service in the Public School System of Allegany County,
shall, upon making proper application to the County Commissioners
for Allegany County, be paid Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00)
FOUR
HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS ($480.00) per annum, in equal
monthly installments of Fifty Dollars ($50.00)
FORTY DOLLARS
($40.00) each, as a supplementary pension.

(b)  The Board of County Commissioners for Allegany County
shall levy such additional sum, as may from time to time be needed,
to pay said supplementary pension to each of said teachers, admin-
istrators, supervisors, or clerks, who has made such application and
who has qualified for said pension, under the terms and conditions
aforementioned.

(c)   The supplementary pension provided herein shall be payable
on and after July 1, 1959, and shall be applicable to those teachers,
administrators, supervisors, or clerks, who retire from the public
school system of Allegany County on or after July 1, 1959.

(d)  Nothing in this Section shall be construed as abridging, modi-
fying, or limiting any other pension rights or supplementary pension
rights presently extended to any employee of the Public School
System of Allegany County, and any such pension rights presently
existing shall be in no wise affected by the enactment of this section.
