applied by the respective companies for their maintenance and
support.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(House Bill 550)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70A of
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Director of Public
Works", authorizing the County Commissioners of Wicomico
County to appoint a Director of Public Works and defining his
qualifications, term of office, duties and compensation.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 70A of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Direc-
tor of Public Works", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
70A. The Board of County Commissioners of Wicomico County
is authorized and empowered to appoint as Director of Public Works
of Wicomico County a person, who has graduated with an engineering
degree from a college or university having an approved engineering
curriculum of four years or more approved by the County Commis-
sioners; [duly qualified as a "Registered Professional Engineer", as
provided in Article 75½ of the Code of General Public Laws of
Maryland;] to fix his compensation; to determine the amount of
bond which he shall give; and to discharge said Director of Public
