Works, whenever, in the judgment of said Board, it is necessary in
the public interest; and, upon removal or other vacancy, to appoint
a successor.
The Director of Public Works shall perform such engineering duties
and conduct such engineering work in regard to the property and
affairs of the County, as the Board of County Commissioners may
direct and require. The preparation of plans and specifications and
the supervision of all construction and maintenance work undertaken
by the County shall be under the general direction of the Director
of Public Works. He shall serve as an advisor to the County Roads
Board and shall undertake the planning and construction of any proj-
ect requested by that Board and said County Roads Board may, by
resolution, authorize and direct that the County Roads Engineer shall
work under the control and authority of the Director of Public Works.
At the discretion of the County Commissioners, he may serve as the
Engineer to the Wicomico County Planning and Zoning Commission,
and if appointed to serve in this capacity, shall make studies for and
recommendations to said Planning and Zoning Commission in all
matters pertaining to land planning and zoning. He shall supervise
the activities of the Building Inspector of Wicomico County and the
work of any other employee of said county engaged in public works,
land use and development control functions, as the Board of County
Commissioners may direct by resolution. He shall aid, assist and
advise the Wicomico County Board of Education in the matter of
the construction and maintenance of buildings and grounds, upon
request by the said Board of Education.
The Board of County Commissioners is further authorized and
empowered, upon recommendation of the Director of Public Works,
to employ, fix the compensation of, arrange the terms and conditions
of employment of, and to discharge such engineering staff and other
personnel as may be deemed necessary in the office of the Director
of Public Works.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 255 (g)
of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Orphans' Court", relating to
the expense allowance of the judges of the Orphans' Court for
Talbot County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
