surplus or revolving funds of the county, the Board of County Com-
missioners of Garrett County is authorized and empowered to accu-
mulate a cash surplus or reserve in a maximum amount at any time
of $100,000.00 to be carried over from year to year as a working
fund, to be accounted for as other public monies and to be applied in
whole or in part, from time to time in the discretion of the Board of
County Commissioners to the current expenses and obligations of
Garrett County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(House Bill 523)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 122 of
Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition, as amended by Chapter 452 of the Acts of 1957), title
"Frederick County", sub-title "Fire Companies", revising the
schedule of payments to be made by the County Commissioners of
Frederick County to the fire companies therein.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 122 of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition, as amended by Chapter 452 of the Acts of
1957), title "Frederick County", sub-title "Fire Companies", be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
122. The County Commissioners of Frederick County are author-
ized and directed to levy on the assessable property of Frederick
County for the year [1957] 1959 and annually thereafter the sum
of [$29,000] $33,600 to be paid on or before the first day of July,
[1957] 1959 and annually thereafter on or before the first day of
January in each and every year; [$1,000] $2,150 of said sum to
the Treasurer of the Independent Hose Company of Frederick,
[$1,000] $2,150 of said sum to the Treasurer of the Junior Steam
Fire Engine Company of Frederick, [$1,000] $2,150 of said sum
to the Treasurer of the United Steam Fire Engine Company of
Frederick, $2,150 of said sum to the Treasurer of the Brunswick
Volunteer Fire Company of Brunswick, $2,150 of said sum to the
Treasurer of the Vigilant Hose Company of Emmitsburg, $2,050
of said sum to the Treasurer of the Guardian Hose Company of
Thurmont, $2,050 of said sum to the Treasurer of the Middletown
Volunteer Fire Company, $2,050 of said sum to the Treasurer of
the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company, $500 of said sum to the
