Poet Laureate
77A. The Governor of Maryland is hereby authorized and direct-
ed to appoint a citizen of this State who shall be designated as,
Poet Laureate of Maryland, and who shall serve without compensa-
tion.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 179
(House Bill 76)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (a)
of Section 25 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifications and Selec-
tion of Jurors", to provide that jurors in Montgomery County
shall receive ten dollars per day and to eliminate the mileage allow-
ance for jurors in said County AND TO PROVIDE THAT
JURORS IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE
SUCH PER DIEM COMPENSATION, WITHIN CERTAIN
LIMITATIONS, AS MAY BE FIXED BY THE JUDGES OF
THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR SAID COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (a) of Section 25 of Article 51 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifi-
cations and Selection of Jurors", be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
25.
(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive six dollars per
day; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties, seven
dollars and fifty cents per day; in Somerset and Worcester counties,
seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in Anne Arundel and Mont-
gomery [county] counties, ten dollars per day, and no extra allow-
ance shall be given either for mileage or overtime in Anne Arundel
and Montgomery [county] counties; IN PRINCE GEORGE'S
COUNTY, JURORS SHALL RECEIVE PER DIEM COMPENSA-
TION, NOT LESS THAN FIVE ($5.00) DOLLARS NOR MORE
THAN TEN ($10.00) DOLLARS, IN SUCH AMOUNTS AS
SHALL BE SET, FROM TIME TO TIME, BY THE JUDGES OF
THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR SAID COUNTY and in all other coun-
ties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Frederick, Harford, St. Mary's and
Wicomico counties, five dollars per day for each and every day they
shall attend the several courts of this State as jurors and fifteen cents
