plication for examination as often as he shall make application
therefor.
28. Qualifications of applicants.
When applying to the Board for examination, the applicant shall
submit his credentials at least [twenty (20)] seven (7) days prior
to the examination date. The applicant shall:
(a) Be a graduate of a school for dental hygienists requiring at
least two years of study that is approved by the [Board and that re-
quires a course of training of not less than two (2) terms of not less
than eight (8) months each, provided however, that the Board may
at its discretion admit to its examinations candidates who are grad-
uates of hygienist schools approved by the Board giving a course
of not less than one (1) academic year, who completed their courses
at least five years before June 1, 1947, and who have practiced
dental hygiene continuously and satisfactorily in the interim.]
State Board of Dental Examiners.
(b) Be of good moral character, [and at least twenty (20) years
of age.]
(c) Be a citizen or an applicant for citizenship of the United Sates.
29. Examination; issuance of certificate of qualification; per-
mit; renewal of certificates.
(b) [Certificate] License of qualification.—A [certificate] li-
cense of qualification to practice dental hygiene in Maryland shall be
issued to candidates who pass the Board's examination satisfactorily.
Such [certificate] license shall bear the seal of the Board and be
signed by the president and the secretary of the Board; it shall set
forth the full name of the dental hygienist, the consecutive number
of issuance of [certificate] license and date of issuance. All of these
data shall be recorded on a duplicate stub retained in the office files
of the Board's secretary. [Such certificate shall be valid for the
remainder of the calendar year in which it is issued.]
(c) On or before the last day of each calendar year thereafter,
the holder of a license shall renew the same by the payment of a
registration fee in the sum of two dollars ($2.00) and by furnish-
ing such information and data as the Board may at the time require.
(d) Every person licensed by the Board to practice dental
hygiene in Maryland shall annually, before April 1st, be required
to register his name, license number, degree, school of graduation,
year of graduation, office location and telephone number, and state
whether or not he is in active practice, on a form furnished by the
Board of Dental Examiners. He shall pay a fee of two dollars ($2.00)
for such registration, and the Board shall issue a certificate of
registration which shall be kept in the office where he is employed.
(e) Failure of any licensed dental hygienist to register as pro-
vided shall cause a suspension of such license, and no license, when
suspended, shall be restored except upon the payment to said Board
of a fee of five dollars ($5.00) by the person so suspended.
(f) The license and the current registration certificate must
be displayed at all times in plain view of patients in the office
