ard, Queen Anne's, Somerset, and Worcester counties shall receive
the sum of eight dollars ($8.00) for every day's attendance upon the
sessions of said court. [The judges of the Orphans' Court for Wor-
cester County shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of
two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) per year, to be paid quar-
terly by the county commissioners of the respective counties.] The
judges of the Orphans' Court for Queen Anne's [County] and Wor-
cester counties
shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of
four hundred and fifty dollars ($450.00) per year. The judges of
the Orphans' Court for Howard County shall receive an allowance
for traveling expenses of three hundred and thirty-six dollars
($336.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court for Somerset
County shall receive an allowance of four dollars and fifty cents
($4.50) for mileage for every day's attendance upon the sessions of
said court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 154
(Senate Bill 156)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 494 (a)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford County (1957
Edition, being Article 13 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Harford County", sub-title "Taxes and County Treasurer",
providing for an increase in the emergency borrowing power of
the Board of County Commissioners of Harford County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 494 (a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford
County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Harford County", sub-title "Taxes and County
Treasurer", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

494.

(a) Whenever the amount of taxes collected or of the funds avail-
able from taxes collected shall be insufficient to meet current expenses
and current obligations of Harford County and, in the opinion of the
County Commissioners of Harford County, it shall be necessary for
the protection of the public credit and the health, morals, welfare,
or safety of the people of the County, the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Harford County shall be and they are hereby authorized
to borrow upon the faith and credit of said county such sum or sums
of money as in their discretion may be necessary to pay such
