1450                             Joint Resolutions

No. 19
(House Joint Resolution 18)

House Joint Resolution expressing sympathy on the passing of
Joseph O'C. McCusker.

Whereas, The General Assembly has learned of the sudden pass-
ing, on November 18, 1958, of Joseph O'C. McCusker, Chief Deputy
Comptroller and Secretary of the Board of Public Works of Mary-
land; and

Whereas, "Joe" McCusker served the State for many years in
these and other capacities, his service dating back as far as the year
1914 when he first entered the State service in the office of the State
Treasurer; and

Whereas, "Joe" McCusker during his period of service to the
State developed a profound knowledge of State fiscal affairs and
became a trusted advisor to the various Governors and Comptrollers
under whom he served; and

Whereas, "Joe" McCusker was kind, considerate and tolerant
toward all persons with whom he came in contact and at all times
maintained both a sense of humor and a dignified presence in his
conduct of State affairs; and

Whereas, "Joe" McCusker with his great wisdom was always
ready and willing to devote all of his energies and talents toward
the betterment of the State of Maryland; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the deepest
sympathy of the members of this Body be expressed over the passing
of Joseph O'C. McCusker; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be instructed
to send copies of this Resolution to the family of the late Joseph
O'C. McCusker.

funds to complete the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' survey of
the Potomac River.
