(Senate Joint Resolution 19)

Joint Resolution creating a Committee to be appointed for the study
and review of existing legislation and need for additional legisla-
tion respecting fire taxes and related services in Prince George's
County.

Whereas, The residential, commercial and industrial growth of
Prince George's County has expanded rapidly in recent years and
continues, and is expected to continue, to expand requiring fire pro-
tection facilities and services; and

Whereas, In past years and from time to time, legislation has
been enacted, in multiple Acts of the General Assembly, to provide
for the levy, collection and distribution of Fire Taxes in Prince
George's County and further legislation is proposed and may be
proposed for future regislation LEGISLATION respecting such
fire taxes; and

Whereas, Careful consideration and a comprehensive study should
be undertaken respecting further legislation needed concerning such
fire taxes and related services to formulate recommendations for the
equitable levy and distribution of fire taxes based upon the fire-
fighting facilities in existence and anticipated to be provided; and

Whereas, Such study should be made in the interim prior to the
1961 Session of the General Assembly; and

Whereas, Certain public and private agencies and organizations
in Prince George's County have contact with the fire service facilities
and needs in said County; now therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assebly ASSEMBLY of Maryland, That

1.   A Committee be and is hereby created and constituted, to be
designated and known as :

"Prince George's County Study Committee on Fire Taxes";

2.   The membership of which Committee shall consist of:

(a)   One member from the Board of County Commissioners of
Prince George's County, to be named and designated by the President
of said Board of County Commissioners, which designee shall be the
Chairman of said Committee;

(b)   One member from the Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning Commission, to be named and designated by the Chairman
of said Commission;
