67A.

(a). The State Superintendent of Schools shall require the
superintendent of schools of every county and Baltimore City to
conduct, at least once during every 60 days of the school year at
every public school in the counties or Baltimore City under the
jurisdiction of the superintendent thereof, a fire drill.
In the

counties the drill will be conducted under the supervision of an

officer, designated by the county superintendent, of a municipal

fire department if the school is located within any incorporated

municipality, or if the school is not located within any incorporated

municipality, by an officer, designated by the county superintendent,

of a county fire department, if any, or by an officer, designated

by the county superintendent, of a volunteer fire company located
in the vicinity of the school. In Baltimore City the drill will be

conducted by an officer, designated by the city superintendent, of
the Baltimore City Fire Department.
SUCH DRILLS SHALL BE
CONDUCTED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF AN OFFICER
OF A FIRE DEPARTMENT OR COMPANY AFFORDING FIRE
PROTECTION TO THE SCHOOL.

(b) At the intervals, and by the persons prescribed above, an
inspection of all schools for fire safety must be conducted. A report
of each inspection containing the findings and any recommendations
for fire safety will be made to the county or city superintendent,
with a copy to the State Fire Marshal.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 814
(House Bill 313)

AN ACT to add new Sections 19A and 19B to Article 59 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Lunatics and
Insane", sub-title "Department of Mental Hygiene", to follow im-
mediately after Section 19 thereof, relating to establishment and
organization by the Department of Mental Hygiene of a maximum
security hospital in the state.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 19A and 19B to Article 59 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Lunatics and Insane", sub-title
"Department of Mental Hygiene", to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 19 thereof, and all to read as follows:

19A. Established: There shall be an institution for persons re-
quiring maximum security because of mental illness, with the powers
