be known as Sections 516 (u) and 516 (v), to follow immediately
after Section 516 (t) of said Code, as added by Chapter 151 of the

Acts of 1949; and that a new section be and it is hereby added to

said Code, to be known as Section 534A, to follow immediately after

Section 534 of said Code, and all to read as follows:

487. (a) For the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this
sub-title, the said Sanitary District, and all additions thereto shall
be under the jurisdiction of a Commission of [three] five competent
persons, who shall [reside within a Sanitary District of Anne Arun-
del County, be resident taxpayers of said County and qualified voters
thereof] be taxpayers and residents with the same qualifications as
now provided for County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County.
At least one member shall be appointed from each of the Second,
Third, Fourth and Fifth Election Districts of Anne Arundel County
and one at large from within any one of the four above-named Dis-
tricts. No member of the Board shall hold any other elective or
appointive political office or position whatsoever. The Board shall
elect its own Chairman.
The term of each of the [three] five mem-
bers shall be [three] six years and until their successors are ap-
pointed and have qualified. Provided that those members appointed
on May 1, 1959, shall be from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Districts. Pro-
vided further that nothing in this Act to the contrary withstanding
the term of the member from the 2nd District appointed on May 1,
1959, shall expire on May 1, 1962; and the term of the member from
the 3rd District appointed on May 1, 1959, shall expire on May 1,
1963; and the term of the member from the 4th District appointed
on May 1, 1959, shall expire on May 1, 1964.
[The three Commis-
sioners now constituting the Commission shall hold office until the
expiration of the terms for which they were respectively ap-
pointed IF OTHERWISE QUALIFIED UNDER THE PROVISIONS
OF THIS SUB-TITLE.] As the term of each of the Commissioners
now serving expires, he or his successors shall be appointed by the
Board of County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County. The Com-
mission shall appoint, discharge at pleasure, and fix the compensation
of a Secretary and a Treasurer; a Chief Engineer; a General Counsel;
and such engineering, legal, clerical and other personnel and help
as from time to time the Commission may deem necessary to carry
out the provisions of this sub-title. Provided further that nothing
in this sub section shall apply to any member presently holding office.

(b)   The annual salary of each of said Commissioners shall be
as follows: The Chairman shall receive a salary of [Fifteen Hun-
dred] Eighteen Hundred TWENTY-FOUR HUNDRED Dollars per
year, payable monthly; each associate member of the Commission
shall receive a salary of [Twelve Hundred] Fifteen Hundred EIGHT-
EEN HUNDRED Dollars per year, payable monthly.

(c)  [The Secretary-Treasurer appointed by the Commission shall
be the collector of all charges and assessments made by the Com-
mission, and shall receive and account for all monies which shall
be due and payable to said Commission from any source whatever;
all monies deposited may be bonded by a depository bond, or pro-
tected by such other securities as may be approved by the said Com-
mission.] The duties of the Secretary shall be prescribed, by the
Commission and shall include the supervision of all the Administra-
