in November, 1944, or at the election held in November, 1954, or at
the election held in November, 1960, the changes made by these
amendments and all such other amendments to this Constitution
shall all be given effect.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the aforegoing section
hereby proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of this State
shall be, at the next general election, to be held in this State in the year
1960, submitted to the legal and qualified voters thereof for their adop-
tion or rejection in pursuance of directions contained in Article 14
of the Constitution of this State, and at the said general election, the
vote on the said proposed amendent shall be by ballot, and upon each
ballot there shall be printed the words "For the Constitutional Amend-
ment" and "Against the Constitutional Amendment", as now pre-
scribed by law, and immediately after said election, due returns shall
be made to the Governor of the vote for and against said proposed
amendment, as directed by said Article 14 of the Constitution, and
further proceedings had in accordance with said Article 14.

(House Bill 745)
AN ACT to add new Section 186A to Article 66½ of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title
"Operations of Vehicles Upon Highways", to follow immediately
after Section 186 thereof, giving to the appropriate authorities of
any incorporated city, town or village (other than Baltimore City)
certain powers to regulate through truck traffic within their respec-
tive corporate limits.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 186A be and it is hereby added to Article 66½ of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor Ve-
hicles", sub-title "Operations of Vehicles Upon Highways", to follow
immediately after Section 186 thereof, and to read as follows:
186A. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, the
appropriate authorities of any incorporated city or town (other than
Baltimore City), are authorized to regulate through truck traffic,
and in such regulations to prohibit trucks from using any road, street,
lane or alley which is within their respective corporate limits and
which has not been designated or maintained as a part of the State
or Federal highway system or an extension thereof.; PROVIDED
SUCH MUNICIPALITY SHALL DESIGNATE AN ADEQUATE
ALTERNATE ROUTE FOR TRUCK TRAFFIC DIVERTED OR
PROHIBITED FROM USING ANY ROAD, STREET, LANE OR
ALLEY.
