(b) The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are hereby
authorized and directed to levy for the year 1960 and annually there-
after a fire tax
of two cents on every One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
of ON OF 3¢ ON EVERY ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OF the
assessed value of all real and personal property located in the First
and Second Election Districts.
IN THE FIRST ELECTION DIS-
TRICT THE AMOUNT OF THE FIRE TAX SHALL BE THREE
CENTS (3c) ON
EVERY ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00)
OF THE ASSESSED VALUE. IN THE SECOND ELECTION
DISTRICT THE AMOUNT OF THE FIRE TAX
SHALL BE FIVE
CENTS (5c) ON EVERY ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OF THE
ASSESSED VALUE.

(c)  The said fire tax shall be levied and collected in the same man-
ner as other State and County taxes are levied and collected.

(d)  The proceeds of said fire tax from each election district, re-
spectively, shall be paid by the County Commissioners semi-annually
on June 30 and December 31 of each year, in equal portions, to each
of the volunteer fire companies located in that election district that
have been approved by the Board of Fire Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County and which have been approved, accepted and recog-
nized by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, and
which are otherwise eligible to receive public funds.

332R. The funds received by the volunteer fire companies specified
in Section 332Q shall be used for the purpose of purchasing, repair-
ing, replacing, operating and maintaining their fire fighting equip-
ment and apparatus, and other vehicles, and the housing of the same;
provided, however, that no payment or disbursement of any said
funds shall be made by any such fire company or the treasurer thereof
without the approval of its Board of Directors. The amount and type
of equipment of each of said fire companies shall conform to the
standards prescribed by the Board of Fire Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County; and no resolution, regulation, or by-law shall be
passed by any of the said volunteer fire companies limiting or restrict-
ing the territory within the said Election District within which it
will respond to emergency or fire calls.

332S. In the event that any one or more of the said volunteer fire
companies shall cease to be an active fire fighting organization, or if
the funds provided for herein are not used for the purposes set forth
in this sub-heading, or if restrictive rules, regulations or by-laws are
adopted by any one or more of the said volunteer fire companies with
respect to the area within which such company or companies will
respond to emergency or fire calls within the said First or Second
Election Districts, as the case may be, then, and in any of said events,
the said County Commissioners shall cease to pay any part of the
money derived from the special fire tax provided for in this sub-
heading to such company or companies so affected.

332T. The Treasurer of each of the said respective volunteer fire
companies shall give bond to the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County in a penal sum to be set by the said County Com-
missioners, conditioned upon the faithful expenditures of the funds
derived hereunder.

SEC. 1A. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT BEFORE
THIS ACT SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IN EITHER THE
