300 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
Resolved, That the General Assembly of Maryland urges and
requests the Congress of the United States and the U. S. Army
Engineers to participate in the planning and construction of a AN
INLAND waterway between the Delaware Bay and the Chesapeake
Bay WITH AN ALTERNATE ROUTE by way of the Pocomoke
River; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent to the
President of the U. S. Senate; the Speaker of the House of Repre-
sentatives; to each of the members of the Maryland delegation
to the U. S. Congress AND TO CONGRESSMEN THOMAS N.
DOWNING OF VIRGINIA, AND HARRIS B. McDOWELL OF
DELAWARE; and to the Commanding Officer, U. S. Army Engi-
neers; all under the Great Seal of the State of Maryland.

(House Joint Resolution 15)
House Joint Resolution requesting the Congress of the United States
to authorize the Army Corps of Engineers to make a survey of the
Patuxent River in regard to flood control.
WHEREAS, The Patuxent River flows through Prince George's
County, Howard County and Anne Arundel County in the State of
Maryland; and
WHEREAS, At the present time, there is inadequate flood control of
the Patuxent River; and
WHEREAS, Because of the inadequate flood control, the possible
flooding of the Patuxent River constitutes a threat to the health and
welfare of the people living in these three counties; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland believes it is de-
sirable that the Army Corps of Engineers make a survey of this
situation with the idea of proposing corrective measures; now,
therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Congress
of the United States be requested to pass legislation authorizing the
Army Corps of Engineers to make a survey of the Patuxent River
in regard to flood control; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be directed to send copies of
this Joint Resolution, under the Great Seal of the State of Maryland
to the President of the Senate, to the Speaker of the House of Rep-
