to allowance of traveling and other expenses of certain elected
officials of Howard County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6, Sub-section (e), of Article 25 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "County Commissioners", sub-
title "General Provisions", as enacted by Chapter 335 of the Acts of
1951, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

(e). To fix and prescribe the salary or compensation of all ap-
pointed officers and employees of the County, and to prescribe and
provide for the payment of the traveling and other expenses of the
[State's Attorney,] Sheriff [, Judges of the Orphans' Court] when
performing duties outside of Howard County and of all [other elected
and] appointed officers and employees of the County incurred in the
performance of their official duties.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
January 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 290 of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Testamentary Law," sub-title "Register of Wills," including
Somerset County under said section, generally setting forth duties
of the Register of Wills for certain counties.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 290 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Testamentary Law," sub-title "Register
of Wills," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
290. Attendance at office; preservation of papers; absence in
military service.
He shall attend his office daily in person or by deputy unless pre-
vented by sickness, accident or necessity for the dispatch of office
business; provided, that the offices of the registers of wills for
Caroline, Dorchester, Montgomery, Wicomico, Somerset and Wor-
cester counties may, at the discretion of the register of wills in each
