the fact shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and shall restore the
money, goods or things taken to the owner, or shall pay him the full
value thereof, and shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars
or
be [sentenced to] imprisoned in the penitentiary for not more
than fifteen years, or [to] in the house of correction or jail for not
more than ten years [.] , or be both fined and imprisoned in the
discretion of the court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
January 1, 1958.

CHAPTER 565
(House Bill 333)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (f)
of Section 47 of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Cumulative Supplement), title "County Commissioners",
sub-title "County Treasurers", relating to the annual salary of the
County Treasurer of Howard County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That Sub-section (f) of Section 47 of Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Cumulative Supplement), title "County
Commissioners", sub-title "County Treasurers", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows :

47.

(f) Howard County.—The county treasurer of Howard County
shall receive an annual salary of [$4,000.00] $5,000.00.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

June 1, 1957.

SEC. 2. NOTHING IN THIS SUB-SECTION SHALL AFFECT
OR CHANGE THE SALARY OF THE INCUMBENT COUNTY
TREASURER DURING HIS PRESENT TERM.

SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1957.
