visions of this section shall receive such compensation [at the rate of]
as shall be determined by the Board of Supervisors of Elections of
Allegany County, but not to be less than
Three Thousand Dollars
annually, which compensation shall be paid semi-monthly, and the
supervisors of elections in said county shall provide that from time
to time both of the said registrars shall sit in various parts of the
county for the performance of their duties, as a convenience to the
residents of the several sections of the county, for which they shall
be entitled to receive all necessary traveling expenses, and in election
years, within a reasonable time prior to the closing of the registration
books for primary and general elections, said registrars shall sit for
four days in each, at some convenient location, during the hours of
1 to 5 P. M. and 6 to 8 P. M., in the towns of Frostburg, Lonaconing,
Westernport and Mount Savage, and at such other locations and for
such hours as the board of supervisors of elections may determine.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 72
(House Bill 230)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 225 of
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes",
sub-heading "County Treasurer", as said section was amended by
Chapter 269 of the Acts of 1953, relating to the appointment and
compensation of the Deputy County Treasurer and the employment
and compensation of other clerk or clerks.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Reve-
nue and Taxes", sub-heading "County Treasurer", as said section was
amended by Chapter 269 of the Acts of 1953, be, and it is hereby,
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

225. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall perform
such duties as said Treasurer shall require and for whose official
conduct said Treasurer shall be responsible and who in the absence
of the Treasurer shall act in his place. Said deputy shall receive a
salary of [Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00)] Three Thousand
Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00)
per annum, payable by the County
