Commissioner, a sum not less than [Five Thousand Five Hun-
dred Dollars ($5,500.00)] Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($6,500.00)
nor more than [Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($6,500.00)] Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00) per annum, and
the Bailiff assigned as Jury Bailiff and designated as Deputy Jury
Commissioner a sum not less than [Four Thousand Five Hun-
dred Dollars ($4,500.00)] Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($5,500.00)
nor more than [Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($5,500.00)] Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000.00) per annum, as
determined and certified to by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City
as and for their respective salaries at the same time and in the same
manner as is provided in the preceding section for the payment of
the salaries of the Crier of the Superior Court, the Crier of the Balti-
more City Court, and Crier of the Court of Common Pleas of
Baltimore City.

Every Bailiff, who after having served not less than twenty pre-
ceding consecutive years or shall have become physically or mentally
incapacitated from performing the duties of Bailiff from ailments
or accidents not resulting from his own misconduct, shall be entitled
to retirement with a salary of Fifteen Hundred Dollars per annum,
payable as other Bailiffs' salaries are now paid provided that such
retirement shall be evidenced by a satisfactory certificate approved
by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, directed to the Treasurer
of Baltimore City, advising him of the retirement of said Bailiff,
and that said retirement is in accord with the provisions of this
section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957. JANUARY 1, 1958,

CHAPTER 483
(Senate Bill 474)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section (k)
of Section 653 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "Natural Resources",
sub-title "Oysters and Clams", to include Wicomico County among
the counties in which the use of patent tongs is unlawful. AND
TO MAKE SPECIAL PROVISION FOR THE TAKING AND
CATCHING OF OYSTERS IN WICOMICO COUNTY DURING
THE YEAR BEGINNING JUNE 1, 1957, AND ENDING MAY
31, 1958.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (k) of Section 653 of Article 66C of the Annotated
