CHAPTER 472
(Senate Bill 390)

AN ACT to repeal Section 30(e) of Article 66½ of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles",
sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling", said section
permitting the issuance, for an additional fee, of special registra-
tion plates with the combination of letters or numerals as requested
by the applicant.

Whereas, the experience in other states has shown that special
registration plates has brought chaos and confusion in the adminis-
tration of motor vehicle registration; and

Whereas, this practice would put an additional financial burden
upon the State of Maryland in the manufacturing, issuing and re-
cording of motor vehicle license plates; and

Whereas, the financial and administrative detriment involved in
the special registration plates system far exceeds any benefit that
could be derived therefrom; now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 30(e) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1956 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Adminis-
tration-Registration-Titling", be and it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

Approved April 10, 1957.
