Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 294A of Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Worcester County", sub-title
"Sheriff", as said section was enacted by Chapter 274 of the Acts of
1933 and amended by Chapter 201 of the Acts of 1941, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments to read as fol-
lows:

294A. The Sheriff of Worcester County shall be allowed and
the County Commissioners of Worcester County shall be required
to pay the sum of [fifty-five cents (55c)] One dollar ($1.00) per day
for boarding and keeping each prisoner committed to his custody,
and it shall be the duty of the Sheriff to keep a book at the County
Jail in which he shall keep a correct and full statement or schedule
of all prisoners committed to his custody, showing by what authori-
ty, the offense charged, the time when received and the time of dis-
charge, which statement or schedule, together with all books, papers
and commitments kept by him pertaining to prisoners in the Jail,
shall at all times be open to the inspection of the County Commis-
sioners, State's Attorney and Grand Jury, and should the Sheriff
neglect or refuse to keep said book or comply with any of the duties
which he is hereby required to perform, he shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and subject to indictment, and upon conviction thereof, he
shall be fined a sum not exceeding One hundred dollars ($100.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted as aforesaid, That this Act
is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety and hav-
ing been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of
all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 202 (c)
of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Licenses", sub-title "Dog Licenses in the Counties", au-
thorizing the designation of persons to assist in the collection of
dog license fees, the issuance of licenses and tags in Wicomico
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
