Counties", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
202.
(c) The County Commissioners of the several counties are au-
thorized and empowered to pay such additional compensation to the
County Treasurer, or to the tax collecting officer as they may deem
necessary or advisable to compensate him or them for the additional
duties imposed by this sub-title. In Harford [County] and Wicomico
Counties, the County Commissioners are hereby authorized to desig-
nate suitable persons in appropriate locations of the county for the
purpose of assisting the County Treasurer or tax collecting officer
in the performance of their duties in collecting license fees and
issuing licenses and tags under the provisions of this sub-title at
such compensation as the said County Commissioners may deem
necessary or advisable.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(Senate Bill 223)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 202 of
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, (1930
Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes",
sub-heading "Clerk to County Commissioners", as said section was
amended by Chapter 472 of the Acts of 1947 changing the method
of compensation and duties of said employee.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 202 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Rev-
enue and Taxes", sub-heading "Clerk to County Commissioners", as
said section was amended by Chapter 472 of the Acts of 1947 be, and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
202. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County are hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint a Secretary who shall also be
Clerk to said County Commissioners, to confer upon him such duties
and responsibilities as said Commissioners, from time to time, shall
deem advisable, to make him responsible and accountable to said
Commissioners for the proper performance of his duties and respon-
sibilities, and to fix from time to time, regulate the salary or com-
pensation of such employee or officer, [and he shall receive an annual
salary not to exceed Thirty-six Hundred Dollars ($3600.00), payable
