from the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 216 (a) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Governor—Executive and Administrative
Departments", sub-title "24. Administrative Procedure Act", as
added by Chapter 94 of the Acts of 1957, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
215. Definitions. For the purpose of this sub-title:
(a) "Agency" means any State board, commission, department or
officer authorized by law to make rules or to adjudicate contested
cases, except those in the legislative or judicial branches, and except
the Department of Parole and Probation, the State Industrial Acci-
dent Commission, the Public Service Commission, the Employment
Security Board and the State Tax Commission.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of St. Mary's
County to pay the salary of Joseph P. Wilkerson, Deputy Treas-
urer of St. Mary's County.
Whereas, For the past 40 years Joseph P. Wilkerson has served
as Deputy Treasurer of St. Mary's County and by virtue of his long
and valued service has earned the respect and commendation of the
people of St. Mary's County; and
Whereas, That the time he began his service with St. Mary's
County, there was no retirement system or social security benefits
available; and
Whereas, Mr. Wilkerson is now ill and incapacitated and it is
desirable that the County continue to pay his salary to provide him
with some assured means of income; now therefore
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of St. Mary's County be and they
are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to pay his salary to Joseph
P. Wilkerson for as long as it may be desirable or necessary.
