(Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 22 (a) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and that Section 22 (e) be and is hereby added to said
Article and sub-title (1956 Supplement), to follow immediately after
Section 22 (d) thereof; both to read as follows:

22. Pay and mileage.

(a) Jurors in Anne Arundel and Washington counties shall re-
ceive six dollars per day, in Dorchester County, seven dollars and
fifty cents per day, in Worcester County, seven dollars and fifty cents
per day and in all other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Fred-
erick, St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per day for each
and every day they shall attend the several courts of this State as
jurors and fifteen cents for each mile over five miles for going to
and returning from the court, once in each term, to be paid by the
counties, respectively, in which courts are held. Jurors in Baltimore
City shall receive such compensation as shall be provided in the ordi-
nance of estimates of said city each year. In Baltimore County, jurors
shall receive per diem compensation in such amounts as shall be set,
from time to time, by the judges of the circuit court of Baltimore
County. Jurors in Frederick County shall receive at least eight dol-
lars per day for each and every day they shall attend the circuit
court of Frederick County as jurors and a reasonable amount, in the
discretion of the county commissioners, for each mile going to and
returning from the court.

(e) In St. Mary's County jurors shall receive $10.00 per day for
each and every day they shall attend a court of this State as jurors.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(Senate Bill 587)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Board of County Commissioners
of Kent County to levy for and appropriate the sum of Five Hun-
dred Dollars ($500.00), during the fiscal year 1958, for preliminary
editorial work on the 1959 Edition of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Kent County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of County Commissioners of Kent County be and it
is hereby authorized and directed to levy for and appropriate, during
