55. The County Commissioners shall elect by a majority vote
a clerk to said board who shall serve as such for a term of two years
and until his successor is elected and qualified. The County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized to fix the compensation of said
clerk at not less than One Thousand ($1,000) Dollars, nor more
than [Twenty-eight Hundred ($2,800)] Thirty-six Hundred ($3,600)
Dollars per year.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(Senate Bill 571)
AN ACT to amend Section 26 (b) of Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Vital
Statistics", to authorize an increase in fee for certified copies of
birth, death and fetal death certificates.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 26 (b) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Vital Statistics" be amended
to read as follows:
26. Certified Copies.
(b) For each certified statement of birth, [or] death, fetal death,
or marriage, or for a report that, after search, the requested record
was found to be not on file, said Board shall collect a fee of [fifty
cents] one dollar; [ for each such certified statement of a marriage,
or for a report that, after search, the requested record was found to
be not on file, said Board shall collect a fee of one dollar.]
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
