TITLE "EMPLOYEES OF MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS", BE
AND IT IS HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED, WITH
AMENDMENTS, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
25. ADDITIONAL ALLOWANCE TO CERTAIN COUNTY
EMPLOYEES RECEIVING LESS THAN $100.00 PER MONTH.
ANY EMPLOYEE OF A COUNTY WHO IS RETIRED AND
WHO IS RECEIVING ANY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE UN-
DER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-TITLE, WHERE SUCH
ALLOWANCE IN THE AGGREGATE IS LESS THAN $125.00
PER MONTH, SHALL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL SUM NOT
EXCEEDING $50.00 PER MONTH UPON APPLICATION TO
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, AND SAID COUNTY COM-
MISSIONERS SHALL ANNUALLY LEVY AN AMOUNT SUFFI-
CIENT TO PAY SUCH ADDITIONAL ALLOWANCE. PROVID-
ED, HOWEVER, THAT THE SUM GRANTED TO ANY APPLI-
CANT BY THE SAID COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE
IN SUCH AMOUNT THAT WHEN ADDED TO WHATEVER
SUM ANY SUCH PERSON IS RECEIVING FROM THE EM-
PLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF MARY-
LAND, THE TOTAL AMOUNT SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE
HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($125.00) PER
MONTH. THIS SECTION SHALL APPLY ONLY IN ANNE
ARUNDEL COUNTY AND IN THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS.
PROVIDED THAT IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, THE ADDI-
TIONAL SUMS HEREIN AUTHORIZED SHALL NOT BE PAID
TO ANY SUCH TEACHER EMPLOYEE WHO RECEIVES BOTH
RETIREMENT BENEFITS FROM THE TEACHERS EM-
PLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND FEDERAL SOCIAL
SECURITY BENEFITS. WITH RESPECT TO AN EMPLOYEE
OF THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS WHO IS RETIRED AND IS
RECEIVING ANY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-TITLE AND WHERE SUCH AL-
LOWANCE IN THE AGGREGATE IS LESS THAN $100 PER
MONTH, THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
ANNAPOLIS ARE AUTHORIZED TO PAY TO SUCH EM-
PLOYEE AN ADDITIONAL SUM NOT EXCEEDING $25 PER
MONTH UPON APPLICATION TO THE MAYOR AND ALDER-
MEN OF THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS. IF SUCH RETIRED EM-
PLOYEE IS SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE OR OVER,
THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF ANNAP-
OLIS ARE AUTHORIZED TO PAY TO HIM SUCH ADDI-
TIONAL ALLOWANCE THAT, WHEN ADDED TO THE SUM
RECEIVED BY HIM UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SUB-TITLE, WILL MAKE IN THE AGGREGATE A PAYMENT
TO SUCH INDIVIDUAL OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH
MONTH, SAID MAYOR AND ALDERMEN SHALL ANNUALLY
LEVY AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO PAY SAID ADDITIONAL
ALLOWANCES AS ESTABLISHED BY THEM UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION.
Sec. 2. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1957. JANUARY 1, 1958.
