Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's
County", subtitle "County Treasurer", said Sections 195, 195A, 197
to 218, inclusive, and 217A having been amended as enacted, respec-
tively, by Chapters 30 of the Acts of 1933, 84 of 1943, 9 of the
Special Session of 1936 and 954 of 1943, be and they are hereby
repealed, and that new Sections 193 to 218G, be and they are hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place and stead of the sections
so repealed, and all to read as follows:
COUNTY TREASURER
198. At the general election of delegates to the General Assembly
to be held on Tuesday after the first Monday of November, eighteen
hundred and ninety-nine, and at such election every four years there-
after, there shall be elected a County Treasurer of Queen Anne's
County, by the qualified voters of said County, who shall hold his
office for the term of four years from the first day of June following,
and until his successor is elected and qualified, and who shall be sub-
ject at all times to be removed for wilful neglect of duty or misde-
meanor in office, upon conviction in a court of law. It shall be the
duty of said County Treasurer to collect all State and County taxes
levied in Queen Anne's County, or payable to the County Commis-
sioners of said County and to receive as such Treasurer all money
belonging to said Queen Anne's County, no matter from what source
derived; and for this purpose he shall be clothed with all the powers
possessed by the collectors of taxes by virtue of the provisions of the
Code of Public General Laws as same may exist during his term;
said Treasurer shall before entering upon the duties of his office,
execute to the State of Maryland two bonds pursuant to the provi-
sions of Sections 51 and 52 of Article 81 of the Public General Laws
of Maryland and any amendments thereto; the penalty of the bond
required under Section 51 of Article 81 aforesaid shall be not less
than Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00).
194. The County Treasurer is hereby authorized to appoint a
Deputy County Treasurer and Assistant Deputy County Treasurer
to serve at the pleasure of the County Treasurer.
195. The Deputy County Treasurer and Assistant Deputy County
Treasurer shall receive such compensation as the County Commis-
sioners of Queen Anne's County shall determine, but in no event to
receive less than an annual salary of Two Thousand Seven Hundred
Dollars ($2,700.00) and Two Thousand Four Hundred Dollars
($2,400.00) respectively; said salaries to be paid by the County
Commissioners of Queen Anne's County.
196. Before entering upon the duties of said respective offices, the
Deputy County Treasurer and Assistant Deputy County Treasurer
shall make a declaration of religious belief and take and subscribe
the oath set forth in Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution of Mary-
land before the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said County.
197. And before entering upon the duties of said respective
offices, the Deputy County Treasurer and Assistant Deputy County
Treasurer shall give bond to the Treasurer of Queen Anne's County
in the penal sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) and with such
surety as the County Treasurer shall approve, conditioned for the
faithful performance of all duties of said office and honest account-
