ing for all money that may come into his hands in his official
capacity; the expense of which shall be borne by the County and shall
be recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said
County.

198.    The Deputy County Treasurer shall perform such duties as
the County Treasurer may prescribe and in the event of the absence,
death, resignation, disability or disqualification of the County Treas-
urer, or in case the office of the County Treasurer shall for any cause
become vacant, shall have and exercise all of the powers and duties
vested by law in the County Treasurer.

The Assistant Deputy County Treasurer shall perform such duties
as the County Treasurer may prescribe and in the event of the
absence, death, resignation, disability or disqualification of the
County Treasurer and Deputy County Treasurer, or in case the
offices of the County Treasurer and Deputy County Treasurer shall
for any cause become vacant, shall have and exercise all of the powers
and duties vested by law in the County Treasurer.

199.    The County Treasurer may appoint an attorney to serve at
the pleasure of the County Treasurer.

200.    The said attorney shall be a qualified voter of the County
and a member in good standing of the Queen Anne's County Bar.

201.    The said attorney shall receive such compensation and
expense allowance as may be determined by the County Commis-
sioners of Queen Anne's County.

202.    The said attorney shall be the general legal advisor of the
County Treasurer and shall represent the County Treasurer in all
legal matters and in all suits, actions and proceedings of any kind to
which the County Treasurer shall be a party before any Court, board,
regulatory body, commission or governmental authority in the State
of Maryland.

203. The said County Treasurer is required to enforce payment OF
taxes by sale as hereinafter provided, of all property upon which
taxes are in arrears, as soon as he is empowered to do so; and at the
expiration of his term of or upon his retirement from office he is
directed and required to forthwith surrender and deliver to his suc-
cessor all books, papers and accounts whatsoever pertaining to said
office and all funds including all cash in his hands and on deposit as
Treasurer, whether from taxes, proceeds of sale of property of de-
linquent taxpayers, or from any other source; and in all cases where
a Treasurer has taken steps for the enforcement of the payment of
said taxes, and shall die before the collection of said taxes, or be-
fore said proceedings are completed, his successor is empowered
and required to continue and complete said proceedings for the en-
forcement of the payment of said taxes, and to collect the same; and
he is hereby clothed with all the power and authority in law had by
the deceased treasurer during his term of office for that purpose.

204. It shall be his duty to deposit at least once a week in any
of the bunks in Queen Anne's County all State and County taxes
and all other State and County funds and/or moneys received or
