Center, Bainbridge, Maryland, is disestablished. In each instance
an annual salary shall be paid to each of the respective trial magis-
trates in an amount not less than that specified in this subsection and
these amounts may be increased at any time by the board of county
commissioners of Cecil County from county funds.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 492)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section (a)
and to add new sub-section (c) to Section 114 of Article 77 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Public
Education", sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System"; said new
sub-section to follow immediately after sub-section (b) thereof,
providing extra retirement benefits for certain public school
teachers of Cecil County AND CAROLINE COUNTIES, author-
izing the payment of such benefits by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Cecil County AND CAROLINE COUNTIES RE-
SPECTIVELY and relating generally to the provisions applicable
thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (a) of Section 114 of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Public Education",
sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments and that a new sub-section
(c) be and the same is hereby added to the said Section 114 to follow
immediately after sub-section (b) thereof, all to read as follows:

114. Additional payments when retirement benefits below certain
amounts.

(a) When benefits less than $100 per month.—Any school teacher
who is retired and who is receiving any retirement benefits under
the provisions of this sub-title, where such benefits in the aggregate
are less than $100.00 per month, shall receive an additional sum not
exceeding $25.00 per month upon application to the county commis-
sioners, and said commissioners shall annually levy an amount suffi-
cient to pay such additional benefits. Provided, that this subsection
shall apply only in Anne Arundel [and Cecil counties] County.
Provided, also, that the sum granted to any applicant by the said
county commissioners shall be such that when added to whatever any
such person is receiving from the teachers' retirement system, the
total shall not exceed one hundred dollars per month.
