Clerk shall be in charge of the office of the County Commissioners,
shall perform the duties pertaining to his office and such other duties
as may be prescribed by the County Commissioners or imposed by
law, and shall have full power to administer an oath or affirmation
to any and all persons who are to be examined as witnesses in any
matter before the County Commissioners, and touching or relating
to any account, bill or other matter to be filed in the office of said
County Commissioners. Said Clerk shall receive an annual salary
[of not more than $1,800,003 not to exceed Three Thousand Six
Hundred Dollars ($3,600.00), payable monthly. [The County Com-
missioners of Garrett County shall also have authority to employ such
additional clerical help as in their judgment may be necessary for
the proper conduct of their office and to pay reasonable and proper
compensation for the services to be performed, the employment of
such additional help and the compensation for same to be in the dis-
cretion of said County Commissioners.] The Clerk shall perform
all the duties of his office without any additional help. The office of
the Clerk shall be kept open from 9 A. M. until 12 noon, and from
1 P. M. until 4 P. M. daily, except Sunday.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
AS TO THE SALARY OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS shall
not apply to the County Commissioners of Garrett County in office on
the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the next term of
office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 284)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 597B of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Sabbath Breaking,"
authorizing playing of football and bowling in Harford County on
Sunday.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 597B of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Sab-
bath Breaking," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments to read as follows:
