597B. Sunday sports and motion pictures in Harford County.
(a) Playing of certain games permitted.—Nothing contained in
§ 578 of this article shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful
in Harford County the playing of the games of baseball, golf, tennis,
basketball, soccer, football, bowling or hockey on Sunday, whether
played for recreation or whether admission to said games be charged.
In the event admission fees are charged no such sporting event shall
be conducted on Sunday prior to the hour of 1:00 o'clock P. M.
(b) Operation of swimming pool, beach or skating rink; motion
pictures.—Nothing contained in § 578 of this article shall be construed
to prohibit or make unlawful in Harford County on Sunday the
operation of a swimming pool or beach, a roller or ice skating rink
or the exhibition of motion pictures; provided that no such operations
shall be conducted prior to the hour of 1:00 o'clock P. M. on Sunday.
The work or employment of the operator of such activities or of his
agents pursuant to the terms of this section shall not be unlawful
because of performance on Sunday.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 322A of
Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes",
said section having been enacted by Chapter 207 of the Acts of
1955, relating to a tax on cigarettes, cigars, smoking and chewing
tobaccos in Carroll County, and correcting an error therein.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 322A of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title "Revenue
and Taxes", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, said section having been enacted by Chapter 207 of the Acts
of 1955, and said section to read as follows:
322A. (a) The County Commissioners of Carroll County are hereby
authorized and directed to levy and impose a tax to be paid and
collected on all cigarettes, cigars, smoking tobacco and chewing
tobacco possessed or held in Carroll County by any person, firm or
corporation for sale on and after January 1, [1956] 1957 THE EF-
FECTIVE DATE OF THIS ACT, at the following rates or amounts:
