(Senate Bill 453)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 257 of
Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title "Justices of the
Peace and Constables", and to change the sub-title "Justices of
the Peace and Constables" to be "Justices of the Peace and Trial
Magistrates", relating to the service of summons in civil actions
before trial magistrates in Queen Anne's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 257 of Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title
"Justices of the Peace and Constables", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, and that said sub-title be changed
to be "Justices of the Peace and Trial Magistrates" and all to read
as follows:

Justices of the Peace and Trial Magistrates,

257. The Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County is also author-
ized to prescribe, in the manner set forth in Section 256, in civil
actions for service of summons, which may include as a part thereof
a copy of the statement of claim and verification by United States
certified or registered mail with a return receipt.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 38(j)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", increasing
the annual salary of the sheriff of Frederick County. AND RE-
LATING TO THE DEPUTY SHERIFFS THEREIN.
