Title to any such land, buildings or equipment purchased by the
County Commissioners of Worcester County or by said County Roads
Board for Worcester County shall be and remain in the County
Commissioners of Worcester County, Maryland.

281.    The members of the County Roads Board for Worcester
County shall each receive in addition to their compensation as County
Commissioners, compensation from the County at the rate of One
Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per month as members of said County
Roads Board. Said County Roads Board shall meet on Tuesday of
each week, and as often thereafter as said County Roads Board
shall deem it necessary for the proper performance of its duties.

282.    The County Roads Board shall, within sixty (60) days after
the effective date of the taking over of the construction, reconstruc-
tion and maintenance of the County Roads in Worcester County,
appoint some competent person as County Roads Engineer, with the
qualifications set out in Article 89B, Section 173 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland (1956 Supplement, as amended
from time to time). The first term of office of said County Roads
Engineer shall run until June SO, 1960, and succeeding terms there-
after shall run for four years, accounting from the end of the pre-
vious term. He shall be subject to dismissal by the County Roads
Board during his term for proper cause. He shall be under and sub-
ject to the authority of the County Roads Board and shall have
charge of making surface plats, profiles and specifications for the
grading, drainage, maintenance, repair and construction of the public
roads, bridges, drains, water courses, public landings, culverts, curb-
ing and guttering in the County and also shall do or supervise the
doing of all necessary engineering and other work in connection
therewith. He shall receive such salary and payable in such manner
as the County Roads Board shall determine.

283.    The said County Roads Board is hereby authorized and
directed to employ a Clerk and an Attorney to said Board and fix
their annual compensation and the manner of payment. If the Clerk
and/or Attorney appointed to the County Roads Board is the same
person or persons as the Clerk and/or Attorney to the County Com-
missioners, such compensation shall be in addition to that paid for
services to the County Commissioners. Said Attorney may also be
paid additional fees in the discretion of said County Roads Board
for special services to it.

284. The said County Roads Board is hereby authorized and em-
powered to employ such other personnel and to fix their compensation
and the manner of paying same as said Board deems necessary to
carry out its duties under this sub-title.

285. In addition to their salaries or compensation above referred
to, the members, appointees and employees of said County Roads
Board shall receive travelling expenses for travel on business of
said County Roads Board beyond the limits of Worcester County
deemed necessary by the County Roads Board.

285A. Whenever, during the effective period of the authority
hereby conferred upon said County Roads Board and prior to the
repeal of that authority, any specific authority is conferred upon
