26                                Laws of Maryland                         [Ch. 22

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

Approved January 28, 1957.

CHAPTER 22
(House Bill 54)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 21 (e) of
Article 66B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Zoning and Planning'', sub-title "Title 2—Zoning", changing
an incorrect cross reference in said Section 21 (e).

Whereas, When Section 21 (e) of Article 66B was enacted as part
of Section 12 of Chapter 599 of the Acts of 1933, there was a cross
reference therein to "the previous section"; and

Whereas, This cross reference was codified to read "Section 20";
and

Whereas, It is clear from the context of the 1933 Act that the
cross reference should have been to the previous sub-section and not
to the previous section; and

Whereas, It is desirable to correct this error in order that the sec-
tion will read as obviously it was intended at the time of its original
enactment; now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 21 (e) of Article 66B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Zoning and Planning", sub-title "Title
2—Zoning", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

21.

(e) (Changes.) Such regulations, restrictions and boundaries may
from time to time be amended, supplanted, changed, modified or re-
pealed. In case, however, of a protest against such change signed by
the owners of twenty per cent. (20%) or more either of the area of
the lots included in such proposed change or of those immediately
adjacent in the rear thereof extending 175 feet therefrom, or of
those directly opposite thereto extending 175 feet from the street
frontage of such opposite lots, such amendment shall not become
effective except by the favorable vote of three-fourths of all the mem-
bers of the legislative body of such municipality. The provisions of
Section [20] 21 (d) relative to public hearings and official notice
shall apply equally to all changes or amendments.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1957.

Approved January 28, 1957.
