CHAPTER 180
(House Bill 336)
AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the County Commis-
sioners of Howard County to retire and pension John L. Iglehart,
the Clerk to the County Commissioners of Howard County, and
to pay said pension out of the general revenue of the County.
Whereas, John L. Iglehart has served with fidelity and efficiency
as Clerk to the County Commissioners of Howard County for the
past twenty-seven years, and is entitled to retirement and pension;
therefore:
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of County Commissioners of Howard County be,
and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed, effective
March 1, 1957, to retire from active duty John L. Iglehart, the Clerk
to the County Commissioners of Howard County; and, accounting
from March 1, 1957, to pay to the said John L. Iglehart an annual
pension of one thousand eight hundred ($1,800) dollars, payable in
equal monthly installments on the first day of each and every month
during the lifetime of the said John L. Iglehart.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Commissioners
of Howard County are authorized, empowered and directed to pay
said pension out of the general revenue derived by the County other
than from taxes on assessable real and personal property.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 154 (j)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "County Dispensaries", rais-
ing the maximum and minimum salary for the Manager of the
Kent County Liquor Dispensary.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 154 (j) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
