200                               Laws of Maryland                       [Ch. 160

Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen
Anne's County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow im-
mediately after Section 182 thereof, said Section 183 having been
repealed by Chapter 302 of the Acts of 1955, and to read as follows:

183. The County Commissioners shall, at the first regular meet-
ing to be held after the qualification of each, select from among
themselves one person as President and one person as Vice-Presi-
dent. The President shall preside at all meetings of The County Com-
missioners at which he shall be present and he may sign and execute,
in the name of The County Commissioners all authorized deeds,
bonds, notes, contracts or other instruments, except in cases in
which the signing and execution thereof shall have been otherwise
provided for. The Vice-President, at the request of the President or
in his absence or during his inability to act, shall perform the duties
and exercise the functions of the President, and when so acting
shall have the powers of the President.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 160
(Senate Bill 355)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 184 of
Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", as last amended by Chapter 505 of the Acts of 1955,
relating to the pay and expenses of the County Commissioner's
COMMISSIONERS of Queen Anne's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 184 of Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as last amended by Chapter 505 of the Acts
of 1955, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

184. (a) The County Commissioners for Queen Anne's County
shall meet as often as they may deem necessary; provided, that they
shall hold not less than one meeting in each week, and each of said
County Commissioners shall receive as compensation for his services
a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars per year. In addition each
Commissioner shall receive one thousand five hundred dollars
($1,500.00) each year for traveling and other expenses in the per-
formance of his duties.

(b) Each of the County Commissioners taking office after the
general election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday
