CHAPTER 760
(House Bill 136)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 7 of
Article 42 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 EDITION),
title "Habeas Corpus", sub-title "Jurisdiction and Procedure", pro-
viding that Sections 4, 5 and 6 of said Article shall apply where a
person is confined as a defective delinquent.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 7 of Article 42 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
EDITION), title "Habeas Corpus", sub-title "Jurisdiction and Pro-
cedure", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

7. The provisions of Sections 4, 5 and 6 shall not apply to any
case unless the petitioner is detained for or confined as the result of
a prosecution for a criminal offense [,] or has been confined as a
defective delinquent under the provisions of Article 31B of the Code,
title "Defective Delinquents".

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

Approved April 15, 1957.

CHAPTER 761

(House Bill 148)

AN ACT to repeal Section 188 of Higinbotham's Laws of Harford
County (1942 Edition), being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Harford County", sub-title "County Com-
missioners", said Act having been amended by Chapter 250 of the
Acts of 1953, and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section 188 to stand
in the place and stead of the section so repealed, relating to the
creation of three Commissioner Districts; the NOMINATION AND
THE election of three County Commissioners, one each being from
each of the Commissioner Districts; providing for their election
by the entire county, PROVIDING THE DATE WHEN SAID
COMMISSIONERS SHALL TAKE OFFICE and relating to the
compensation of said Commissioners.; IN HARFORD COUNTY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
