precinct as set forth in said petition, and that the said affiant or af-
fiants personally saw the signers, in regard to whom he or they make
oaths, sign such paper.

(d)  Restriction. No person who has been a candidate for nomina-
tion by a political party at the primary elections preceding a general
election shall be nominated for an office to be filled at such general
election in the manner prescribed by this section.

(e)  More Than One Nominee. No person shall join in nominating
more than one nominee for each office to be filled; nor shall any per-
son sign more than once for the same nominee for an office.

(f)  Adequacy. If the adequacy of any certificate of nomination is
questioned by any qualified voter, it shall be the duty of the several
Boards of Supervisors of Elections in the jurisdiction in which the
signers are registered voters to verify the number of legitimate
signatures; and if the total required number of signatures is not
properly appended to the petition, it shall be declared insufficient
and the name of the proposed candidate shall not be placed on the
ballot.

68.  Publication of Nominating Petitions. Within thirty days after
the filing of any nominating petition, the Secretary of State, in cases
of such petitions filed with him, shall cause to be published at least
once in a daily newspaper of general circulation throughout the State,
the names of all signers of any such petition, together with an ex-
planation of the nature of the petition to which said persons' names
are affixed. Where such petitions are filed with the Board of Super-
visors of Elections, said Board within thirty days after the filing of
such petition shall cause to be published at least once in a newspaper
of general circulation throughout the county, or the City of Balti-
more, as the case may be, the names of all of the signers of any such
petition, together with an explanation of the nature of the petition to
which such persons' names are affixed. The cost of such publication
shall be paid by the nominee whose name is thereby entered on the
ballot; and if the cost is not paid, the name of the nominee shall not
be printed on the ballot.

CERTIFICATES OF NOMINATION

69.   Certificates. (a) Required. All nominations shall be attested
to by a certificate of nomination.

(b) Primary Election. If the nomination is by means of a primary
election, the certificate shall be signed and acknowledged by the per-
sons whose duty it may be, by party usage, to declare the result of
such election in the manner prescribed for a nomination by a con-
vention, but no party emblem or device of any kind shall be added to
said certificate; and if any such emblem or device should be added,
it shall not be printed upon the ballot by the Secretary of State or any
of the Boards of Supervisors of Elections.

(c) Party Convention. The certificate of nomination for BY any con-
vention shall contain the name of each person nominated, the address
of his residence, the nature of his business, and the name of the
office to which he has been nominated. It shall designate in not more
than one word the party or principle which the party convention
