elections for offices to be filled by the voters of the State, any
county or the City of Baltimore, Congressional, legislative, council-
manic or other districts and for all delegates and members of party
committees elected at primary elections, and shall not apply in the
case of nominations made at primary elections for the office of Judge.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS
61. Parties Using Primary Elections. Any political party which
at the general election next preceding any primary election to be
held hereunder, shall have polled ten per centum or more of the entire
vote cast in the State shall nominate (1) all its candidates for public
office; (2) all delegates to local and State conventions; and (3)
all members of the State and local central committees in said
political party for public office by means of primary elections con-
ducted under the provisions of this sub-title. The several Boards
of Supervisors of Elections shall not print on the official ballot to
be voted at any general or special election to be hereafter held the
name or names of any such candidate or candidates for election in
Baltimore City or any of the counties of the State of any of said
parties who shall not be so nominated and whose nomination shall
not be certified to them or to the Secretary of State as having been
so nominated.
62. Date for Primary Election. (a) Date. The primary elections
by the political parties shall be held throughout this State on the
third Monday TUESDAY in May.
(b) Primaries for Municipal Offices in Baltimore City. The day
for holding primary elections for municipal offices in Baltimore
City shall be the Tuesday which is nine weeks or sixty-three days
prior to the Tuesday next after the first Monday in May of the year
in which the municipal elections in the City of Baltimore are to
be held.
63. Ballots for Primary Elections. (a) Types. As many different
sets of official ballots shall be printed and supplied by the Board
of Supervisors of Elections at each polling place, and as many ballot-
boxes shall be used at each polling place, as there are parties par-
ticipating in the primary. The ballots of the several parties shall
be printed upon opaque paper of different colors, to be determined
by the several Boards of Supervisors of Elections.
(b) Printing. Official ballots shall be prepared and printed for
such primary elections by the several Boards of Supervisors of Elec-
tions as is now provided by this Article for general elections, except
as otherwise provided for in this sub-title. On the back and outside
of all such official ballots shall be printed only the words "Official
Ballot For", followed by the designation of the county, Congressional,
legislative or councilmanic district or other district, as the case may
be, for which it is prepared. The several Boards of Supervisors of
Elections shall print or cause to be printed on said official ballots
the names of all candidates for office to be voted for, and for dele-
gates to any convention, or for State or local central committees,
of any political party, who shall have become duly qualified and
certified under the provisions of this Article.
(c) Number. Ballots shall be printed in number equal to 110%
of the number of registered voters of the respective political parties.
