Boards of Supervisors and to make available such space as needed
therein for the proper conduct of registrations and elections upon
application for their use by said Boards of Supervisors and to pro-
vide light and heat for the buildings, and in all proper ways
to facilitate them in the discharge of their duties as Supervisors. In
Montgomery County it shall be mandatory that the County Board of
Education of Montgomery County make available such space AND
CUSTODIAL SERVICE as needed for the proper conduct of regis-
trations and elections upon application by the Board of Supervisors
of Elections for Montgomery County.
15. Sub-Dividing Districts and Precincts. (a) Power. The Boards
of Supervisors of Elections in the several counties and Baltimore City,
whenever in their judgment and discretion it shall be expedient for
the convenience of the voters so to do, may sub-divide into precincts
any election district in their respective counties or ward in Baltimore
City, or any election precinct in said counties or said City, as the case
may be; or may designate such additional polling places in any such
election district or precinct as they may deem necessary. Notice of
the boundaries of such additional precincts and of the location of
such additional polling places shall be given as provided in Section 16
of this Article.
(b) Additional Judges. It shall be the duty of the Board of Super-
visors, whenever it shall so sub-divide into precincts any election dis-
trict or election precinct or shall so establish additional polling places,
to appoint officers of registration and judges of election therefor as
in this Article provided. Such officers and judges shall have all the
powers and duties, be subject to all the responsibilities and be liable
to all the penalties prescribed in this Article for officers of registra-
tion and judges of election.
(c) Books and Records. It shall further be the duty of the Board
of Supervisors whenever it shall so sub-divide into precincts any
election district or election precinct or shall so establish additional
polling places, to provide for and cause to be prepared such additional
sets of books or cards or loose-leaf pages as may be required for
transcribing the names of registered voters transferred to such newly
established precinct in any district, precinct or polling place. Or, in
Baltimore City and in counties having a permanent system of regis-
tration, it shall be the duty of the Board to correct and transfer the
registration forms or cards of the registered voters affected thereby.
All members of the respective Boards of Supervisors shall sign their
names to said books containing the names so transcribed and shall
certify that said books contain all the names of persons entitled to
vote in such newly established precinct in any district, precinct or
polling place. Said certificate shall appear on the blank line next
following the last name in each letter of the alphabetical list of names
in said books so transcribed and be attested by the Clerk of the said
respective Boards of Supervisors.
(d) Precincts with Voting Machines. The respective Boards of
Supervisors of Elections may rearrange, consolidate, sub-divide or
otherwise reestablish precinct or polling place boundaries for the
purpose of establishing polling places best suited in their judgment
for the use of voting machines.
16. Precinct Boundaries Changed. (a) Duty of Supervisors. When
the boundaries of any precinct shall be changed, it shall be the duty
