of the Board, notice may also be given by handbills set up in such
public places in each precinct, as the Board may determiner

BE AUTHORIZED.

(b)  Baltimore City. In Baltimore City, such notice as prescribed
in sub-section (a) of this section shall be given by advertisement in
all the daily newspapers which will publish the same at their current
rate for commercial advertising.

(c)   Permanent Registration. In Baltimore City and in any
county providing for a permanent board of registration, similar
notice shall be given of the time and place of registration and
revisions thereof.

(d)  Dorchester County. In Dorchester County, such notices shall
be in three newspapers published therein (one of which, if possible,
shall be of the opposite political faith from that of the majority of
the Board of Supervisors).

13.  Ballot Boxes, Books and Supplies. Each Board of Supervisors
of Elections shall have an office and shall provide all necessary ballot-
boxes, ballots, voting machines, registry books, poll books, tally
sheets, cards, forms and binders, stationery and such other supplies
as may be necessary and proper for the registry of voters and con-
duct of elections, and for every incidental purpose connected there-
with; and the expenses thereof shall be paid by the respective County
Commissioners, County Councils or by the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore.

14.  Registration and Polling Places, (a) Location. It shall be the
duty of the respective Boards of Supervisors to appoint and to pro-
vide for furnishing, heating, lighting and cleaning, a suitable place
of registration and polling place in each precinct of their county or
City, which shall be as near the center of the voting population of
the precinct as practicable; provided, however, that whenever all
three Supervisors of the said county or City, as the case may be, shall
file in their office a sworn statement in writing that a suitable place
cannot in their judgment be secured in any precinct, a suitable place
in an adjoining precinct may be provided. In no case (except as to
a building owned and occupied by a bona fide volunteer fire company
in Allegany County) shall a registration or election be held in any
building or part of any building used or occupied as a saloon, pool-
room, billiard hall or bowling alley or communicating therewith by
doors or hallways.

(b)  Permanent Registration. Except as otherwise expressly pro-
vided in this Article, in Baltimore City and in any county providing
for a permanent board of registration, no places of registration need
be provided in the respective precincts of said City or county, but all
matters of registration may be conducted in the office of the Board of
Supervisors of Elections.

(c)  Public Buildings. Wherever possible and practicable, it shall
be the duty of each Board of Election Supervisors to use public
buildings, such as school houses and fire-engine houses, for registra-
tion and polling places; and it shall be the duty of all public officials
having charge of such buildings to place them at the disposal of said
