hereby authorized and empowered to appoint such clerical and other
assistance as in his judgment may be necessary for the proper con-
duct of his off ice, at such compensation as he may deem proper, to
be paid by the County Commissioners of Baltimore County on the
certification of the State's Attorney. Such clerical and other assist-
ance as may be appointed by the State's Attorney hereunder shall
perform such clerical and other work as he may direct. The salary
herein provided for the State's Attorney of Baltimore County shall
be payable accounting from the date on which the State's Attorney
elected to office in the regular elections of 1954 1958 shall take office.

575. The State's Attorney for Baltimore County is hereby author-
ized and empowered to appoint [two] three Assistant State's At-
torneys at a compensation not exceeding [Four Thousand Dollars
($4,000] Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) per annum each, to
be paid out of the funds coming into the hands of the State's Attorney
for Baltimore County and said Assistant State's Attorneys to per-
form such work in the State's Attorney's office as he may direct and
as they are now or may hereafter be authorized by law to perform.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 943)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 270 of
Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Worcester County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes",
as amended by Chapter 284 of the Acts of 1933, Chapter 127 of
the Acts of 1936, Chapter 428 of the Acts of 1943 and Chapter 138
of the Acts of 1951, relating to the compensation of the Deputy
County Treasurers of Worcester County, and the Clerks in the
County Treasurer's office.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 270 of Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Worcester County", sub-title "Rev-
enue and Taxes", as amended by Chapter 284 of the Acts of 1933,
Chapter 127 of the Acts of 1936, Chapter 428 of the Acts of 1943
and Chapter 138 of the Acts of 1951, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

270. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy who shall perform such
duties as the said Treasurer may require and for whose official con-
duct said Treasurer shall be responsible, and who shall act in his
