of the deceased known to them or to be shown by the executor, ad-
ministrator or collector. The Orphans9 Court of Baltimore County
shall appoint three appraisers, to hold office at the pleasure of said
Court, who shall appraise the goods, chattels and personal estates
of all decedents under administration of the Orphans9 Court of
Baltimore County.
One of said persons shall [named the Appraiser,]
BE designated as Chief Appraiser for said Court at an annual salary
of Six Thousand Dollars, and the others shall be [named the Deputy
Appraiser,] designated as his assistants at an annual salary of Three
Thousand Six Hundred Dollars each and [both the Appraiser and the
Deputy Appraiser] each of the three Appraisers shall receive a
monthly expense account of Fifty Dollars ($50.00). Such salaries
shall be in lieu of any and all other compensation for their duties
as such. The Register of Wills of Baltimore County is hereby au-
thorized and directed to enact a schedule of fees to be charged for
the appraisal of the decedent's estates for the purpose of defraying
the salaries hereinbefore established.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 682
(House Bill 775)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 277 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County (1955 Edition,
being Article 3 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Bal-
timore County", sub-title "Title 21 Orphans' Court and Register
of Wills", providing a change in the compensation of the bailiff of
Baltimore County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 277 of the Code of Public Local Law of Baltimore
County (1955 Edition, being Article 3 of the Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Title 21 Orphans'
Court and Register of Wills", be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments, to read as follows:

277. The Judges of said Court may appoint a bailiff, who shall
attend each sitting of the Court and perform such duties as the
Court and Register of Wills may direct, and shall be paid [quarterly
by the County Commissioners, upon the certificate of the Register of
Wills Seven Dollars per day for each day he shall be in attendance
upon said Court] an annual salary of Two Thousand Four Hundred
Dollars ($2,4.00.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

Approved April 10, 1957.
