(g-c) Dorchester County.—The State's attorney of Dorchester
County shall receive an annual salary of $4,500 and shall be allowed
$2,000 annually for clerical allowances.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to affect the salary of the State's attorney
of Dorchester County who is in office at the time this Act becomes
effective, but the increase in annual salary herein provided for shall
take effect at the beginning of the term of the State's attorney of
Dorchester County next after the regular election in the month of
November, 1958.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 687)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-sections (a)
and (b) of Section 177 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title
"Birds, Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading "Raccoon,
Opossum and Skunk", extending the open season on raccoon and
opossum.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-sections (a) and (b) of Section 177 of Article 66C of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Re-
sources", sub-title "Birds, Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-head-
ing "Raccoon, Opossum and Skunk", be and the same are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read as follows:
177. (a) No person may hunt any raccoon or opossum except
after sunset and before sunrise of any day between [November]
October 1 and the next succeeding January 31, inclusive. No person
shall hunt any raccoon or opossum between sunrise and midnight
Sunday. No person shall cut a tree for the purpose of catching, kill-
ing, or dislodging a raccoon or opossum without the consent of the
owner of such tree. No person may at any time set or otherwise use
any steel trap or other similar device to catch any raccoon or opossum.
(b) No person shall between February 1 and [October 31] Septem-
ber 30, inclusive, shake or throw out of any tree or den any raccoon
or opossum. Every person hunting raccoon or opossum must have
a hunter's license for the current year in possession and tag displayed
on outer garment.
