CHAPTER 653
(House Bill 689)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 60 of
Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Howard County", sub-title "County Commission-
ers", as said section was amended by Chapter 880 of the Acts of
1945, increasing the salary of the County Commissioners of How-
ard County and relating generally to their compensation.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 60 of Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", as the same was amended by Chapter 880 of the
Acts of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
60. The County Commissioners of Howard County shall each re-
ceive an annual salary of [twelve hundred dollars ($1,200.00), be-
ginning after the General Election in 1946, and each year thereafter]
three thousand six hundred dollars ($3,600.00), payable in equal
monthly installments [of one hundred dollars in lieu of all other com-
pensation per diem or mileage, and traveling expenses], provided,
however, that said Commissioners shall elect one of their members
as Chairman and he shall be paid a sum of [two hundred dollars
($200.00)] four hundred dollars ($400.00) per annum, also payable
in equal monthly installments, in addition to his salary of [twelve
hundred dollars ($1,200.00)] three thousand and six hundred dollars
($3,600.00).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this section
shall affect or change the salary of the incumbent County Commis-
sioners during their present term.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
