(1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Com-
pensation and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
88.
(p) Prince George's County.—The sheriff of Prince George's
County shall receive an annual salary of [$4,000] $5,000 and $2,500
per year for operation and maintenance of his automobile during his
term as sheriff, for the use and work of his office within said county,
without any additional cost to the county. He may appoint such
deputies and assistants as he may deem necessary and a stenographer
and at such compensation as he shall fix but the compensation of all
such deputies and assistants and a stenographer shall not exceed
[$18,100] $25,800.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
increasing the salary of the sheriff shall not be construed to extend
or apply to the sheriff in office on the effective date of this Act, but
shall take effect with the next term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1957.

CHAPTER 644
(House Bill 666)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 651 (d)
and 665 (a) (2), of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters
and Clams", providing that it shall be unlawful to land oysters
earlier than one-half hour before sunrise or later than one-half
hour after sunset; providing that oysters accompanied by a Cer-
tificate of Inspection may be landed from buy boats or buy trucks
between sunset and sunrise; and providing further for penalties
for the violation thereof.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 651 (d) and 665 (a) (2), of Article 66C of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Resources",
sub-title "Oysters and Clams", be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
651, (d) Time for Taking or Landing Oysters.—It shall be unlaw-
ful for any person to take oysters on Sunday or between sunset
and sunrise on any other day; or to land oysters earlier than one-
half hour before sunrise or later than one-half hour after sunset [,];
