Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953 Edition) and the Mont-
gomery County Code (1955 Edition), being Articles 17 and 16 re-
spectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles
"Prince George's County" and "Montgomery County", sub-title
"Washington Suburban Sanitary District", said new section to be
known as Section 1637A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), and Section 74-102.1 of the Mont-
gomery County Code (1955 Edition) and to follow immediately after
Sections 1637 and 74-102 of said Codes respectively, and to read as
follows:

1637A (74-102.1). The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commis-
sion is hereby authorized and empowered to provide for disposition
of sewage within that portion of the drainage area contributory to
the Patuxent River lying within Howard County. The said Commis-
sion shall have full power and authority to enter into any contract
or agreement with the proper authorities of Howard County for such
sewage disposition and the terms and conditions upon which such
service shall be performed, provided, however, that none of the cost
of disposition of sewage hereunder shall be apportioned or levied,
directly or indirectly, to or upon any property lying in Montgomery
County or Prince George's County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 6 (h) of Article
25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title
"County Commissioners", sub-title "General Provisions", be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

6. (h) To prevent and remove nuisances; to prevent the intro-
duction of contagious diseases into the County; to approve the loca-
tion for the manufacturing of soap and fertilizer; to approve the
location of slaughterhouses, packing houses, and all places which may
involve or give rise to unsanitary conditions or conditions detrimental
to health; to enter into contracts or agreements with the Washington
Suburban Sanitary Commission relative to disposition of sewage
within that portion of the drainage area contributory to the Patuxent
river lying within Howard County;
and to provide by ordinance or
regulation for the prevention, control, or elimination of all nuisances
or causes of sickness and to establish penalties for the violation of
the same, such penalties not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for
each and every day such violation shall continue, provided, however,
that nothing herein shall be construed to affect in any manner any
of the powers and duties of the State Board of Health or any public
general law relating to the subject of health. Any violation of the
provisions of this sub-section or of any ordinance or regulation
made thereunder shall be deemed to be a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be subject to the penalties provided hereinabove.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
