the Annotated Code and in Section 224 of Article 23 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, and

Whereas, It is desirable to repeal the provisions in the Public
Local Laws and to place these laws in the Annotated Code along with
other laws concerning the salaries of county treasurers.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 224 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Rev-
enue and Taxes", sub-heading "County Treasurer", said section hay-
ing been amended by Chapter 412 of the Acts of 1953, be and it is
hereby repealed; that Section 47 (i) of Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "County Commissioners",
sub-title "County Treasurers", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments; that a new Section 47(i-1) be and it
is hereby added to said Article and sub-title, to follow immediately
after Section 47 (i) thereof, and all to read as follows:

47. Salary of county treasurers.

(i) Caroline, Queen Anne's and Talbot [and Wicomico] counties.
—The county treasurers of Caroline, Queen Anne's and Talbot [and
Wicomico] counties shall each receive an annual salary of $3,000.00.

(i-1) Wicomico county.The county treasurer of Wicomico county
shall receive an annual salary of $4,000.00. He shall devote his entire
time to the duties of his office and shall keep his office open for the
transaction of business during the hours when offices in the Wicomico
County Court House are open. Except for the provision made in
Article 66½ of this Code, whereby the county treasurer of Wicomico
County shall receive a payment for every set of motor vehicle regis-
tration plates issued by him, the said treasurer shall receive no com-
pensation or fees of any kind other than as provided in this sub-
section..

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act concerning the salary of the county treasurer of Wicomico
County shall not be construed to affect the salary of the incumbent
in that office at the time this Act becomes effective. The increase in
salary provided herein shall take effect at the beginning of the term
of the county treasurer regularly elected in the month of November,
1958.

Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
