Levy authorised

in Prince-George's county, that the wharf at Nottingham is quite
insufficient lor the use of the inhabitants of the county, they there-
fore pray that a law may pass to empower and authorise the levy-
court of Prince-George's county, to levy on the assessable property
of said county, a sum of money for the erection of an additional
wharf in the town of Nottingham, in Prince-George's county;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
levy court of Prince-George's county be and they are hereby autho-
rised and directed, at their first meeting after the passage of this
act, to appoint three commissioners for the purposes herein after
mentioned.
. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners, or a majority
of them, are hereby authorised and empowered, to purchase of any
person or persons, who may own the lands adjoining the public
wharf in the town of Nottingham, in Prince-George's county, such
portion of said land, for the purpose of enlarging the wharf, as
in their opinion the public convenience requires, provided such pur-
chase, and other expenditures, shall not exceed the sum of five
hundred dollars.
3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners, or a majority
of them, before they proceed to execute, the duties herein required,
shall take the following oath before bottle person authorised to ad-
minister the same: "I, A. B. do swear, that I will well and truly
execute the trust reposed in me by the levy court of Prince-George's
county, under the authority of an act passed December session
eighteen hundred and nineteen, entitled, An act to provide for the
erection of an additional wharf in the town of Nottingham, in Prince-
George's county, and for other purposes."
4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners, or a majority
of them, after they shall have complied with the provisions of the
third section of this act, be and they are hereby authorised and di-
rected to erect an additional wharf in the town of Nottingham, in
Prince-George's county, the dimensions of which shall be directed
by the levy court of said county.
5. And be it enacted, That the justices of the levy court of
Prince-George's county, are hereby authorised and empowered, as
soon as in their discretion it may be necessary after the passage of
this act, to levy and assess, on the assessable property of said coun-
ty, the sum of five hundred dollars, which shall be paid over to the
acting commissioners appointed under the authority of this act, or
to their authorised agent, and to be by them appropriated to the ex-
penses inclined in the erection of said wharf.

CHAP. CIX.

An Act to open and extend East Street in the City of Annapolis, and to close up
that part of said Street leading to Prince-George Street.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Ri-
chard Harwood of Thomas, Henry Duvall, James Hunter, Wash-
ington G. Tuck, and John T. Barber, or a majority of them, be
and they are hereby appointed commissioners, to open, extend and
lay out, East-street in the city of Annapolis, of its present width
from the state house circle, and extend the same to the water line
on part of said city; and the said street, when so opened and ex-
tended, shall be deemed and taken, and is hereby declared to be, a
