1619.

ten dollars shall be paid to each of the said supervisors, or to his
order, as a compensation for his services during the past year; also
such further sum as may be necessary for the payment of such per-
son or persons as may have bid off the whole or any district of
said roads; Provided, that there be, in neither of these cases, evi-
dence of unfaithful discharge of the duties required.
6. And be it enacted, That these levies, so ordered and directed,
shall be made at the termination of the year during which the se-
veral expenses are incurred.
7. And be it enacted, That all acts of assembly, or any part or
parts thereof, inconsistent with the provisions of this act, lie and
the same are hereby repealed; Provided, that nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed to affect or invalidate any contracts made
before the passage of this act, or any proceedings had or com-
menced in pursuance of the powers granted by any of the sections
hereby repealed.

CHAP. LXV.

An Act for the relief of Arthur H. Willis of Dorchester County.
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Arthur

H. Willis be and he is hereby authorised, to remove, import, and
bring into this state, from Delaware, at any time within one year
after the passage of this act, a negro man named Doss, a negro boy
named Bayard, and a negro woman named Vice or Violet, which
slaves shall have resided in the state of Delaware three whole years
next preceding such removal or importation, and the same to retain
as slaves; Provided, that said Arthur H. Willis shall cause said ne-
gro slaves to be registered in the office of the clerk of Dorchester
county, within three months after said removal; Provided, nothing
herein contained shall authorise the said Arthur H. Willis to dis-
pose of the said negroes until they shall have remained three years
in the state after the passage of the act aforesaid.

CHAP. LXVI.

An Act to authorise Ruth Tolson to complete the Collections of John Tolson,
her deceased Husband, late Collector of Queen Anne's County.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Ruth
Tolson be and she is hereby authorised and empowered, to collect,
until the first day of January eighteen hundred and twenty-one, all
balances due John Tolson, her deceased husband, late collector of
Queen-Anne's county, in the same manner as he could or might
have done within the time limited by law, any law to the contrary
notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said Ruth
Tolson, before she proceeds to execute the property of any person
or persons, for public dues in virtue of this act, to deliver to such
person or persons, chargeable with the same, at least thirty days
previously to levying such execution, an account, written in words
at full length, of the public dues demanded of him, her or them,
with an affidavit annexed, that it doth not appear from the books of
the said John Tolson, or from any other memorandum or entries,
that he, in his life-time, or any person since his death, hath receiv-
ed any part thereof, or any thing as security or satisfaction for the
same, more than credit given, (if any,) to the best of her know-
ledge and belief, and that the account contains the true and just
sum which is due.
